You are welcome here
SAA or SAB
This song was commissioned by the Beaconsfield Festival of Choirs, with the intention for it to be easily performed by any group of singers, from primary school children through to established mixed-voice choirs. The two versions available here are voiced for SAA and SAB, which should give options for most groups – feel free to adapt freely as necessary!
The song is about making people welcome, and on a really simple level that could mean teaching children about the importance of welcoming everyone, regardless of race, gender, disability etc. It’s also about making people welcome in our choirs – explicitly saying to anyone who joins us that they are welcome. And perhaps on a wider scale, it’s also about extending a welcome to the rest of humanity – be they immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers – a simple welcome to anyone and everyone.
