ABOUT ME

Throughout my adult life, I've been passionate about supporting others to achieve their potential. My career has included some glittering, glamourous moments, but having achieved those things, my focus shifted to what truly makes me tick - working alongside other musicians, both amateur and professional, as we learn new things together. This is at the heart of everything I now do, whether that's directing my contemporary community choir, writing arrangements for other choirs, running workshops or training sessions for other choir leaders, or creating beautifully-engraved scores for fellow arrangers & composers.

BIO

Timothy trained under the well-known choral arranger and accompanist Michael Neaum, and also Anthea Cator and Douglas Wilkie at Clarendon College, before graduating from University College Bretton Hall in West Yorkshire. His career began at Bretton Hall, teaching singing to undergraduates, and has included freelance work as a musical director in Yorkshire and London, conducting large choirs in projects at major concert halls across the UK, commissions for compositions and arrangements, and private vocal tuition. He has run singing workshops across the UK, for clients from small choirs to major corporations. He has worked alongside big-name artists such as Brian May and Toyah Willcox, performed in venues from Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to the Royal Albert Hall, and conducted internationally. His musical arrangements and orchestrations have been performed across the UK and USA, by ensembles ranging from local community choirs to the City of London Philharmonic.

Timothy is now co-director of his own contemporary community choir, BeVox. He is one of the team of arrangers at ChoirCommunity, the digital marketplace for choirs, and also is one of their score proof-readers. In 2019, he founded the Choir Leaders' Choir, a loose network of choir leaders who get together to sing for fun. He lives and works with his wife Toni in a small village in South Yorkshire.
