This Christmas song is perhaps slightly less well-known than others, although it has been covered by artists such as Dolly Parton and Pentatonix since its original release by Michael English in 1991. It has become a firm favourite of Tim’s choir, as you’ll see from the video above.

There is a lot of scope for dynamic contrast in the song, and there are many occasions when the tune is passed from one part to another, requiring considerate singing from the whole choir. The power of the climax is undeniable, and although there are some sections that initially appear complex, it’s a relatively straightforward sing.
