This arrangement is based on the Gary Jules cover of the Tears For Fears original – it’s the cover version that reached Number One in the UK charts, rather than the original. It’s a real showcase of the dynamic range of your choir – the swells in the chorus are just one aspect that need to be really brought out. The crescendo leading into second chorus, followed by a sudden drop to pianissimo, can be a moment of high drama. The bass part is very low (bottom Eb), but there’s an optional higher version that can be taken by basses that can’t quite get all the way down there.
