How would you like to devote a week to singing? Switch off from the world and relax in luxurious surroundings, whilst getting vocal tuition from some of the top coaches in the business. We'd like to invite you to on our summer singing retreat – can you think of a better way to spend a week?
- A week's holiday, with options for full board or bed, breakfast and lunch
- Or, if you can't commit to a whole week, there is a one-day option, with just lunch or lunch and dinner
- Ten two-hour workshops – or three if you're visiting just for a day
- For our week-long guests, a performance at the end of the week
Stubton Hall – a magnificent manor house in the countryside just outside Newark. Featuring four-poster beds, a sumptuous "Chocolate Bar", and a light, airy Music Room, this imposing setting will be our home for the week. There will be time to explore the 24 acres of grounds and gardens, including the stunning water feature at the rear of the Hall, or to venture further afield for a round of golf, an invigorating walk, or to visit the nearby museums and castles.
Sunday 19th until Friday 24th August 2012. Single-day guests are welcome on Tuesday 21st August, which will include sessions by David Grant and Timothy Allen.
David is probably best known as a vocal coach and judge on the BBC's "Fame Academy", having worked on both the standard and Comic Relief versions of the programme. He has also coached many successful pop artistes privately, including Take That, Mel C, Lemar, Will Young and many others. As a performer, David has 14 hit singles to his name, and along with his partner Carrie, won the 1998 MOBO for Best Gospel Album. His teaching work is widely recognised, and he is the Ambassador for UK Skills at the Teaching, Learning and Education Awards. He was co-creator of the BBC TV show "Facing the Music", which was nominated for an RTA award.
David will be delivering a workshop and masterclass on pop singing as part of our Singing Retreat.

Straight from his recent appearance in Southwark Playhouse's critically acclaimed production of "Parade", Alastair is currently touring the UK as the featured vocalist with the English National Ballet's "Strictly Gershwin". His West End credits include "Blood Brothers" and "Cabaret", and he appears on several recordings, including the 50th Anniversary Recording of West Side Story. Equally at home when singing sacred music in St Paul's Cathedral, crooning with a swing band, or bringing complex characters to life on the stage, Alastair currently divides his time between teaching, session singing and acting.
Alastair will be delivering a workshop, and offering one-to-one assessments as part of our Singing Retreat.
Multi-instrumentalist and acclaimed studio producer Dylan Charles has spent over 20 years in the music business, including running his own rock band in Dubai, Germany, and touring the UK. He is widely in demand as a song-writer and record producer, working with acts from Pink tributes to girl bands. Co-writer of an original rock musical, he has also penned hundreds of songs for bands and solo artistes worldwide, as well as writing and recording soundtracks for TV documentaries and educational projects.
Dylan will be offering one-to-one sessions on solo performance and song-writing, as well as providing vocal assessments.
With over 70 productions to his name as a vocal coach, Timothy has been working with singers for the last twenty years. In that time, he has worked with well over 5,000 voices, coached choirs in performances at The Royal Albert Hall alongside Brian May, written arrangements for Kerry Ellis' 2011 "Anthems" concert, and produced a sound-and-light spectacular with his own choir, BeVox. Specialising in working with amateur voices, Timothy is committed enabling others to achieve their potential.
Timothy will be running the majority of the sessions at the Singing Retreat, in addition to offering one-to-one assessments and tuition on solo performances.
